Guided walking tour: Historic heart and Cathedral quarter

From 10.00 to 12.00
Bus departure from the Palais des Congrès: 09.15
10€/pers

A two-hour walk including a tour of the historic centre and the cathedral district

Explore the historic centre, the oldest of the three districts within Liege’s mediaeval walls, located between the River Meuse and the foot of the slopes of the citadel: including a chance to see the Palace of the Prince Bishops, the town hall, the market square and the Perron (a symbol of freedom for the town’s citizens), the old routes through the city, narrow lanes, stairways, beautiful frontages of patrician buildings, fascinating signs outside craft businesses and shops, and more.

Meuse, separating the Ile (Island) district from the rest of the city. An area of convents and collegiate churches since the Middle Ages, this district has experienced rapid growth since the start of the XIXth century and is now a centre for luxury shopping, business and theatre. With the focus on shopping and leisure, the Carré is the trendy area of Liege. The walk ends with a visit to the cathedral of Saint-Paul (subject to access restrictions). Participants are then free to visit the superb Cathedral Treasure-House or stroll around the extensive pedestrian area.
